Luxor Las Vegas — Trip Review (Nov 14–16, 2025)

Published on

This trip was meant to be a simple, budget-friendly spa weekend, and the Luxor fit that goal perfectly. I’ve stayed up-Strip for years (Aria, Bellagio), but had never ventured this far south. The price was right, and the iconic pyramid appealed to the kid in me who always wanted to see inside it.

With the combination of Marriott Bonvoy Platinum and MGM Gold, the stay exceeded expectations for value. The service at the front desk, housekeeping, and even breakfast was consistently above average — and the upgrade changed the experience entirely.

Location & First Impressions

Luxor sits at the southern end of the Strip. You can walk to everything, but it’s noticeably farther from the core action around Bellagio, Cosmo, and Caesars. That distance is the property’s biggest drawback.

Inside, the casino floor is standard—nothing remarkable either way—and, for someone who doesn’t gamble, it served mainly as something to walk past on the way to the elevators. The North Tower itself felt newer and separate from the dated pyramid aesthetic, though the hallways showed signs of ongoing water-damage repairs: ventilation fans running, bins catching drips from the ceiling. None of it affected the room, but it was noticeable.

Arrival was the first strong moment. The regular check-in line was massive, but elites had a dedicated line for both Bonvoy and MGM status tiers. With only two parties ahead, it moved quickly. The front desk agent visibly perked up seeing the dual statuses, stepped away to speak with a manager, and returned with a confirmed upgrade and a $100 food credit. Friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming.

Room & Status Recognition

I had booked a Pyramid Guest Room, 2 Queen. Thanks to double status, we were upgraded to a North Tower One-Bedroom Suite, also with two queens.

The suite was very spacious — not penthouse-large, but the living room itself felt as big as a full hotel room. The interior was clean, modern, and well-maintained with none of the dated pyramid décor. Nothing broken, nothing worn.

The hallway outside had a damp, musty smell due to the ongoing repairs, but the suite itself did not share these issues.

Noise was a non-factor. Being far from the elevators meant we didn’t hear guests, hallway traffic, or casino hum.

The layout was practical: proper separation between living and sleeping areas, though guests would need to pass through the bedroom to reach the bathroom. Something to consider if privacy matters — or a humble-brag opportunity if you’re showing off the upgrade.

Status recognition was meaningful:

  • Dedicated elite check-in line
  • Welcome gift choice of 1,000 points or a $50 food voucher (chose the points)
  • Extra $100 food credit granted voluntarily by the front desk
  • Resort fees waived due to MGM Gold
  • Parking waived (though not used)
  • Late checkout offered to 2 p.m., based on availability

Overall, a strong elite-status experience.

Club Lounge / Breakfast / F&B

Luxor doesn’t have a club lounge, but breakfast at Pyramid Café turned out to be a highlight for what it is. MGM Gold and Bonvoy Ambassador had priority line access — oddly specific, but helpful.

Portions were massive. A breakfast burrito was roughly forearm-sized, and entrées hovered around $25 USD. We split an omelette between two adults and supplemented with yogurt and soft drinks. Service kept up well despite the heavy morning crowds. The food itself was tasty, diner-style, and exactly what you expect from a high-volume Vegas breakfast spot.

The $100 food credit from the upgrade covered breakfast easily.

Facilities

I evaluated the facilities but didn’t fully use them.

Gym:
Modern, well-equipped, with a solid free-weight setup — no cardio-only issues. You could get a real workout in.

Spa:
Hotel guests can purchase a day pass for ~$30, and the space appears to offer multiple hot tubs and lounging areas. It would likely be worth the fee for an on-property spa day.

We ultimately spent our relaxation time at Encore Spa and Caesars Spa, both of which cater to a different crowd — quieter, higher-service environments compared to what you’d expect at Luxor.

Service & Overall Vibe

Service was consistently above average.
The front desk was exceptional, housekeeping was solid, and staff in general were friendly and efficient.

A notable moment: when we returned mid-cleanup to grab a charger, housekeeping politely asked us to verify the room by tapping the keycard. A small but appreciated security touch.

The vibe skews party-focused and budget-friendly, with a younger crowd. Our own experience was balanced by spending time in premium spas off-property, which created a contrast between the high-energy Luxor atmosphere and the quieter environments we preferred during the day.

Bottom Line

Luxor is ideal for budget travelers and for anyone who values room size or upgrade potential within the MGM/Marriott ecosystem. It’s also a fitting choice for guests who’ve always wanted to experience the iconic pyramid structure, even if staying in the newer North Tower removes most of the “pyramid interior” feel.

It’s not ideal for travelers who want to be centered on the Strip’s most active zone. Walking from Luxor to the Bellagio-to-Venetian corridor takes noticeably more time, and that distance shapes the overall experience.

Would I stay again? Yes — especially if upgraded to a North Tower suite again. The value was excellent, service was stronger than expected, and the stay delivered exactly what a budget-focused Vegas weekend needed.

Additional Notes

Luxor is enormous. With so many elevators and the layout split between the pyramid and the towers, expect long interior walks. Pay attention to elevator colors — picking the wrong bank can easily add extra minutes to your route.
